Exchangeable image file format (Exif) is a standard that specifies the formats for images, sound, and ancillary tags used by digital cameras (including smartphones), scanners and other systems handling image and sound files recorded by digital cameras. It is used in fileformats like JPG and TIFF and is developed by the Japan Electronic Industry Development Association.
Exif information can contain information like the date and time of the recording, name of the owner, brand of the camera, gps data, etc.
